The team returns to the Azores for the their third and final trip of the season. During their time away from the boat, the Spencer 57 underwent a massive motor rebuild on the port engine.
Parts and mechanics were flown in from the States just a handful of days prior to the team arriving in Faial. Alex and Vitor work through several nights to ensure the motor and boat are ready for the teams last trip before the new year. When the boys arrive, the rebuild is complete and the boat is ready to fish. Steve gets intel from a local friend Diogo, that the bite is still hot. The first day out produces well with the team landing several quality fish up to 800 pounds. That will be the only day of the trip that produces such numbers.
A weather system is rolling in and the fleet is forced to fish the back (lee-side) of the island the remainder of the trip. The fishing is slow and the weather is poor. The local temperature has dropped substantially since the boys last trip, a clear indication that the season is changing and the historical (once in a lifetime) bite is coming to an end. The team reflects back on their time spent in the Azores over the last few months.
